Glasgow hosts the United Nations Climate Change Conference!
All eyes are on Glasgow this week as the city hosts the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference – known as COP26.
With the ambitious target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 and being awarded Globe Green City status, the city was chosen to host. Over 10,000 Glasgow residents applied to volunteer at COP26 providing an incredible opportunity for those involved to get close to the action. Glasgow boasts a variety of world-class facilities with plenty of experience of hosting high-end events, and we believe this will be a fantastic opportunity to showcase Glasgow as an incredible MICE destination as our great venues and world-class hospitality will be experienced by many influential figures from all over the world.

The Conference of Parties (COP26) will run from 31st october – 12th november 2021 at the Scottish Event Campus. In an addition to the world-class SEC, an exhibition and event space at the Glasgow Science Centre called ‘The Green Zone’ will also be open to the public. The Green Zone will feature immersive exhibitions, a COP26 cinema and an outdoor exhibition of zero-emissions vehicles.
In 2015, world leaders met in Paris to agree on a plan that will limit the effect of global warming. This plan was named ‘The Paris agreement’ which commits developed countries to reduce emissions before a set date. COP26 is the next step in achieving and reviewing the changes and targets being made to combat climate change. Each country will present their course of action in reducing the effects of climate change in Glasgow over the next 2 weeks.
WIth so many world leaders and influential figures attending COP26, it is a fantastic opportunity for the events industry to showcase Glasgow and its culture to the rest of the world. We can’t wait to see what this means for our wonderful industry in the near future and also to show you some of the incredible COP26 events we have been working on behind the scences.
